Happy Birthday Joey!!
We Started off the New Year with Joey's 10th Birthday!! (oh my, how time flies) Joey's birthday is on January 2nd (almost a new years baby) and it is that much more special because it is also his Grandma Sheila's birthday. So fun!!
Joey has been bugging us about getting a kitten. We had to leave our dogs behind when we moved, so we told him when we got settled in maybe we could get another pet that was easier to take care of. Of course Joey never forgets anything, and has been reminding us ever since we moved in. We have been having a mice problem, so we thought, what the heck, let's get a cat! On his birthday we went to three different pet stores looking for a kitten (at every stop we had to make up an excuse why we were going to a pet store) No Luck!! I guess everyone wanted kittens for Christmas? So I decided to buy him kitten food, a litter box, and everything he would need for a new kitten and put it in a big bag. I love his reaction when he opened his gift.
In the bag there was a note saying this would be for his new kitten when we found it. He was so excited. Of course the next morning he was asking if we could go look again. We ended up finding a cute kitten at the Animal Humane Society. We picked up his sister too, and gave it to our friends the Wicke's, since they also wanted a kitten. He is 12 weeks old, tiger striped, already litter box trained, and a very good kitten so far.
Chuck E. Cheese
We always let the kids decide where they want to eat on their Birthday. Joey chose Chuck E. Cheese. The kids had a lot of fun, and we actually left without any tears, which is amazing. (Usually they want a prize that is too many tickets, and there's no convincing them) Jacob can't wait till it's his birthday, because he wants to go again. OH JOY!!
Adam and Joey combined all their prize tickets, so they could get more things. Smart thinking!!Our New Kitten--Tiger
He'll hopefully grow into his ears someday! :)
He loved the Christmas Tree, and would climb all the way up to the top! He laid inside of it the whole time I was trying to take down the ornaments, and he would grab at everything I was taking off. I don't think he wanted the tree to come down. :)
The Gingerbread Man's Visit
The Gingerbread Man's Visit
Our good friends from Thatcher, the Jones', thought of us to help with their daughter Jaden's school project. The kids made gingerbread men and they ran away to different parts of the country. We were instructed to get a picture of where the Gingerbread man ran off to and send it back. We thought it would be fun to take the Gingerbread Man to The Mississippi River. You can see the river partially frozen in the back ground. It was freezing!!
The Snow Ramp
John and the boy's built this awesome mountain of snow in the backyard to make a ramp to sled down on. It was actually kind of ingenious. John used the swing set (that is partially built) so the kids can climb up the steps that go to the slide and then sled down. On the side of the mountain of snow, the kids discovered they could make a fort that goes under the slide. It's pretty cool. I will have to post more pictures soon.
Looks pretty dangerous! :) Let's see how long it takes before someone, or should I say, Adam, gets hurt. :)
Jacob's First Lost Tooth!!
Jacob lost his fist tooth this morning. He was so excited and can't wait for the Tooth Fairy tonight!! Now we really need to work on "no thumb sucking" We'll see how it goes!!

"Stuck! Stuck!! STUCK!!!!"
Adam came in this afternoon crying for help that he needed a towel, because he was bleeding. I ran into the kitchen and found him with blood spilling out of his mouth. I asked him what happened as I handed him a paper towel, and he said he didn't know. I asked what he hurt is mouth on and he told me it was on the shovel John used to shovel the snow. I wandered how he had managed to that. He kept saying he really didn't know how it happened. It wasn't until an hour later that Joey told me the real story.
Apparently he was curious about what would happen if he stuck his mouth on the metal snow shovel. (In zero degree weather, not a good idea) I guess we haven't watched the Christmas Story enough around him. (remember the friend Flick, who was triple dog dared to touch the flag pole with his tongue?) Anyway, to make a long story short, "Don't put your lips on a metal snow shovel!!" When I asked Adam about it, his reply was "Sorry, I get so curious!" John had a good idea, just don't play outside when it's zero degree's outside!!

Sounds like you guys are having an exciting and busy time over there. I know it must have hurt to have Adam's lips stuck to the shovel but it sounds pretty funny especially when you reference "A Christmas Story".
Ouch! Poor kid!
That's pretty funny! Looks like your all having so much fun. You'll be ready for spring when it comes won't you?
I love all of the catch up posts! I really need to do the same. It looks so cold there, but you all seem to be having lots of fun!
