Date Night....with Jacob!!

John had another scout camp out with the two older boys. Well, they're supposed to be camping out, but John said they were going to bale out and come home when everyone went to bed. He says we just have so much to do in the next couple weeks and not enough Saturday's to get them done. He is getting ready to leave for Brazil with his MBA class. I think all this was just one big excuse though, what I really think is that they froze their fanny's off last time and they don't want to do that again! :)

I wanted to make the night fun for Jacob so that he wouldn't be feeling left out. I decided to put the younger two to bed and then let Jacob stay up and play a game with me and have root beer floats. He was very excited about the idea, and was such a big helper in getting both Luke and Bekah to bed. He even wanted to read a bedtime story to Bekah.

It was so cute to over hear him. He started out saying, "See Bekah, this is the title page, and this is the table of contents, and... never mind, we'll just get to the book." He was reading a book he had checked out from his school library about Ambulances. After each page he would explain the picture to her. I even heard him say, "These people went to school to learn how to do this so they wouldn't do anything crazy." It was very cute...put a smile on my face!!

After we accomplished getting them off to bed our little date night began. We played the new Transformer board game that he got for his Birthday. We played it twice and he won both times!! (and I was really even trying) :) It was a fun night. I really need to be better about spending one on one time with each child. We really did have such a good time.

Jacob is such a funny kid. For someone who is so quiet, he sure does talk a lot when he has your full attention. Here is a cute quote from him today: I was asking him if he wanted to play soccer this spring, and he immediately asked if a certain boy was playing. I told him I didn't know, then he responded, "No, I don't want to play." Then he quickly changed his mind and said, "Actually I do want to play. You know what they say...keep your friends close but your enemies closer!" So Funny!!
