Jacob really wanted a birthday party this year, but the more I thought about it the more I didn't want to do it. What do you do with a bunch of kids in the middle of winter? At least when it's warm outside you can send everyone outside. :) Jacob has wanted his good friend Caleb to spend the night for awhile, so I gave him an ultimatum. Either he could have a birthday party OR we could have Caleb spend the night and have our own little party with him. He chose the sleepover. (he might have been a little directed in his decision but it was ultimately his decision.) I made sure he knew it was HIS choice though. I don't want my children to think that they were deprived in their childhood because they never had birthday parties! Aren't birthday parties over rated? :)
We started our sleepover by taking a dip in the pool at the YMCA.
I think everyone enjoyed themselves. My hope was that swimming would wear everyone out!!
Then we came home and made pizza's!! They were delicious!! Each child got to make their own just the way they liked it!
And of course there was lots of game playing!! They played the Wii all night long it seemed!! The boys had such a good time. Caleb fits right in with our family, he's just one of the boys!! We'd claim him! :)
The boys had a slumber party in the basement. It was cute when it was time for bed...Jacob sleeps with a little silky blanket, it's his comfort blanket. Well, Caleb happened to catch a glimpse of it before Jacob quickly hid it, and he asked Jacob "Hey, Jacob what's that?" Jacob replies "Oh, nothing!" Caleb again "Really Jacob, what was that that you put under there?" Jacob, "Nothing" Caleb, "Come on Jacob, just tell me!" Jacob was getting a little flustered so I replied "It's just something he likes to sleep with." Caleb got a huge grin on his face and said "So that's your blanket? Well...I have one too!" and then he quickly pulled his out from under his sleeping bag. I had to smile, it was something right out of a children's book. :)

Right out of "Ira Sleeps Over" for sure. How cute is that! In the book about Ira, he has a teddy bear named Ta Ta that he is so embarrassed to show his friend. But the friend has one too. Sounds like a great party to me!
