The Unwelcomed Visitor

John lost an important set of keys awhile back, and he had told me today that he really needed to find them. So any plans I had were on hold as I looked everywhere I could think of. I have a really bad habit of just throwing stuff in boxes whenever I speed clean before company comes over. Especially with my counter tops...all those papers and "junk stuff", I just put the whole thing in a box with good intentions to go through it soon. :) Only "soon" rarely happens, so now I just have random boxes all over the house. I had looked for the keys everywhere else I could think of, so I decided I needed to start going through all those boxes, which made an even bigger mess than I had before. :) Anyway, I have some good news and some bad news with this story. The bad news is, we haven't found the keys yet. The good news is, that while we were looking for the keys we got some "deep cleaning" done. John pulled out the refrigerator, just in case the keys had fallen off the counter, and found this...

May he rest in peace :)

Disgusting, right??!! YUCK!! A year ago we had seen traces of a mouse about the house. :) We set up some mouse traps, one being behind the dishwasher, by the refrigerator. After we had set the mouse traps we were really good about checking them often, but after awhile we had stopped seeing traces of the mouse, and never found a mouse in the traps so we kinda forgot about them. Anyway, who knows how long this poor mouse was here. (he was pretty stiff) I'm just glad John was home to take care of it. The kids thought it was pretty cool! GROSS!!

Funny quote of the day:

Adam wanted some cookies for an "after school snack" which I had baked for later. I told him he needed to wait and to get something else. He whined and complained and I told him to get something healthy instead, like a banana. He huffed away to the kitchen and then yelled back to me, "And besides I can't even have a banana. They're all DEAD!!"

I guess it's time to make banana bread. :)

Kids and their sweets. Carina always wants an after school snack and trys to ask for a treat instead. She gets so mad when I tell her she can't have it because it is a treat and not a snack. Oh well, mean moms right. HOpefully the keys will turn up soon.

Keep up being the mean mom, they thank you later, it gives them great stories to tell, whick of course get better as the years go by and it gives them an out when they have to be mean to their kids.

As for all those boxes, bad habit younr lady, and I should know. I haver boxes that have been waiting for ten years, I'm sure. My New Years goal is to go through at least three a day until they are all empty and my house wil grow at least 25%!
